Clone Wars Rebranding

A fancy new memorable name and a look into future content.

As you may have noticed, we have taken on a new name. This may come as a surprise to you, but this is something I have been planning on doing for months. My goal for doing this was generally to give us a name or brand that gives off a unique feeling, rather than just getting called CWRP or something boring. As mentioned in the New Years announcement, we are planning to allow communities to give themselves their own identity and platform, and that is exactly what we are doing for the CW community.

As of now, nothing should change in terms of Discord or the way the server works or anything like that.

With one big goal down, there are still a few we need to score.
AOTR now has it's own dedicated forum platform now, which can be found at https://defcongaming.net/ageoftherepublic
With this lovely change, this means that AOTR will be the only DefconGaming server with a forum (pog?) but that is not all. From now on, things like suggestions and bug reports can only be found on the forums and can no longer be posted to Discord. This is also partially due to my disgust against players and their terrible suggestions, but who am I to judge.
Now, we just need to get the homepage and some other back end changes done and we will be good to go on the web-end of things.

With a new name, new forums, and a new logo, it's time to talk about some things.
I am hoping these next few months for AOTR are as big as I have planned, because there are some massive milestones we are so close to hitting, but are currently at the mercy of how fast the developers have been and are currently working, which is slow. And that's alright, we aren't in any rush at the moment, and it certainly won't stop me from talking about it.

To simply put it, you can expect 2021 to be a massive year for our community, as we plan to hit some long-awaited milestones such as a complete UI overhaul, dynamic music, downtime simulation systems, huge improvements to optimization, infiltrators, questing, Discord linking, and so much more. It's gotten to the point where I have just kept quiet about it, and the ideas have gotten so large and plentiful that this will be our major, biggest, or otherwise "flagship" of an update since we have left the beta stage.

Below, you will find a few things that I am ready to show off.

A look into upcoming content.

New fancy jetpacks!
Some of you with a keen eye may have noticed that for the past year and more we have had jetpacks that did not have proper texture settings. Thanks to Luna, that is something we will no longer worry about.

Jetpack Stuff

Progress on the Discord and In-game linking.

It's more than likely been a very long time since you have heard about this, but the engineers behind the scenes have been chugging along as they have been.
Once this system hits the server, players will be able to track their stats as well as others. From how many characters they have, to how many items they have across all their inventories. This is essentially laying the foundation for so much more to come, for example getting 50 likes on a submission in the art or showcase channels on Discord banks you a fancy title.

I think it's also safe to mention that this Discord and In-game connection also lays the foundation for our other plans, like the Reputation System or the Regimental Levels and Officer tools that we have planned for the coming months.

The 41st Elite Corps.

What else can I say? They have Elite right in the name, most of you cannot compare.
The 41st's major update is still underway, as we chug along on the model end of things we are also preparing their new equipment and classes. However, that is for another day.

For now, I shall leave you with a blessing from Stan and Mantis.

(god just look at how hot that new green is!)

Let's talk about our third installment to Anaxes, otherwise known as v3.
Probably the key to all the changes coming with our flagship update mentioned previously, v3 will is our most ambitious project yet. With many goals we want to reach, v3 is still a little ways off and it may be a while before we are completely ready to release it to our beloved players.

We have taken a huge step back from the original design from Anaxes, and aim to provide a completely unique terrain with a heavy sense of exploration, danger, detail, story, and more. I don't want to talk about too much just yet, but just know that there will be some new dangers to face in v3, wether it's the new enemies I am about to mention or the planet itself.

New day, new terrain, new enemies.

The Republic has left Anaxes in ruin by bringing their war into atmosphere the day they set up Fort Anaxes and it's shipyard. All they have done since is deplete the planet's resources with each passing day. The Separatists wont stop them for these types of crimes of course, so what about the native population?
Sure, we have had encounters of these Anaxes natives before, usually waving around a wooden spear or maybe, if we are lucky, a stolen blaster. However, those days have come to an end.

Introducing the Legion of Anaxes, filled with the natives from each of Anaxes' clans as they come together to make a fearsome fighting force to combat the Republic, and take back what belongs to them.

Utilizing the gear from the Republic, either stolen from the armories or borrowed from fallen clones, the Legion of Anaxes is our worst nightmare when it comes to these natives. These scavenging bloodthirsty brutes will arrive with the flagship update with v3.

You can thank Mantis for the kick ass renders, and the models themselves after being given little to nothing in terms of expectations.

It's been pretty quiet, right?

A while back, I mentioned some upcoming changes regarding audio overhauls, in the form of new announcer lines, combat sounds, or even new systems like the voice line wheel or dynamic music. However, since we are on the topic of v3, I might as well take the chance to show off some new ambient sound effects that will be featured alongside the new map.

That's all I have to say for now. I hope you all enjoy these new fancy blog posts as well as the new forums and our new name. We have huge goals to hit this year, and I am glad to have you by my side. - Sour
